Sample setting of IPP printing in macOS

Notes

  • You must have an ITC account to output on a printer on campus.
  • When setting has been completed, you may delete the files you have downloaded and files or folders you have decompressed.
  • Have the setting executed by a user with administrative authority for whom the password has been set.

  • We have confirmed an event in which printed data becomes color after printing in monochrome.Please convert the print data to monochrome at the printer terminal beforehand and receive the printout. Please click Change to black and white printing on touch panel to learn how to do this.

Preparing the printer driver

  1. Download the [ FUJIFILM Mac OS X PPD file installer ] from the FUJIFILM Business Innovation web site.
    ※ Drivers vary according to the OS version. (Due to the structure of the download page, different OS versions may be included in the address, but if your version is listed in "Environment", it is compatible.)
    ※ The OS version can be confirmed by [Apple Menu] → [About This Mac] on the upper left part of your Mac desktop.
    ※ For macOS 13.x (Ventura) users, please use the macOS 12 Monterey driver.


  2. Open the data you have downloaded.
    ※ Shortcut to open download folder [ option + command + L ]

  3. Double click the FUJIFILM PS Plug-in Installer.pkg of the extracted file.

  4. Installer’s screen is displayed, so click [Continue].

  5. The licensing agreement is displayed, so click [Continue].
    It asks if you do or do not agree with the licensing agreement, click [Agree].


  6. Click [Install] to start installing.

  7. The administrative authority authentication screen is displayed, so enter the password to log in to Mac and click [Install software].

  8. Click [Close] after [The installation was successful.] .

  9. This completes preparation of the printer driver.

Linking IPP to HTTPS

  1. Start the terminal.
    ※ Open by [Finder] → [Applications] → [Utilities] → [Terminal].
  2. Enter [cd /usr/libexec/cups/backend/], then press the [return] key.

  3. Enter [sudo ln -s ipp https] then press the [return] key.

  4. You will be asked to enter a password, so enter the Mac login password that you use.
     ※ The password is not displayed, but it has been entered.
     ※ "Sorry, try again" will appear if an incorrect password is entered.

  5. This completes linking IPP to HTTPS.

Registering the printer

  1. Open [System Settings] or [System Preferences] from the Apple menu or Dock menu.

  2. Click [Printers and Scanners].

  3. macOS 13 or later : Click [Add Printer,Scanner,or Fax].
    up to macOS 12 : Click [+] in the lower left part of the [Printers and Scanners] screen.

  4. The printer’s setup screen is displayed, so after selecting the [Advanced] tab, make settings as shown in the following table, then click [Add].
    If you don't see the Details tab, please see the following FAQ to add it
    FAQ : On the [Add printer] setting screen, the [Advanced] tab is not displayed.

    When searching for a driver, you can easily focus the search if you use [c5000].

  5. On the [Installable options] setting screen, make the following settings and click [OK].
    Configure 4 trays, Internal hard disc: enter check, Memory: 1,536MB.


  6. This completes the registration of the printer.

Preset registration and key chain registration

  1. Open Safari or Notes to print.
     1) Click [File].
     2) Click [Print].
  2. macOS 13 or later : From [Printer Options] click [Job Accounting].
    up to macOS 12 : On the print screen, select [Job Accounting].
     ※If the details screen does not appear, click [Show Deatails] at the bottom of the screen.

  3. On the print screen, select [User Details Setup].

  4. On the User Details Setup screen, select [Enter Owner Name] under designate user ID, and enter not only your ITC account in [User ID], but also enter your password for your ITC account in [Password].
    ※For example, enter ub999999.
    After entry, click [OK].

  5. From the preset pop-up menu, select [Save Current Settings as Preset].

  6. Enter a preset name and click [OK].The preset name is optional so, a name that is easy to understand is recommended.

  7. Click [Print].
    If [Hold for Authentication - “Filter” failed] is displayed, click on the refresh button.

  8. Enter ITC Account and password
      1) Enter your ITC account and its password to [Name] [Password].
      2) Check [Remember this password in my keychain].
      3) Click [OK].

  9. This completes preset registration and keychain registration.

Executing printing

  1. Open a text file, web page etc. then execute printing.
       1) Click [File].
       2) Click [Print].
       3) Click [OK].
        ※According to setting, a preset for printing may be displayed.
       4) Click [Print].
    ※It is color by default.If you wish to print in monochrome,select [Image Options] from Dropdownlist then select Black and White.
    With Black and White selected, you can set Black and White as the default by saving it as preset.
    ※We have confirmed an event in which printed data becomes color after printing in monochrome.Please convert the print data to monochrome at the printer terminal beforehand and receive the printout. Please click Change to black and white printing on touch panel to learn how to do this.

  2. This completes printing.
    Move to the printer and execute printing with the operating terminal.
    For details, refer to "Receiving printed material using a printer".

    You may not be able to print the first time you try.
    In this case, click on the printer icon.
    [Hold for Authentication - “Filter” failed] is displayed, so click on the refresh button.

    The authentication information entry screen appears.When a keychain has been saved, you can print simply by pressing [OK].
    If not saved, enter the password and name of your ITC account to [Name] [Password].

    Printing data is sent.

FAQ

On the [Add printer] setting screen, the [Advanced] tab is not displayed.

  1. Move the cursor to the tool bar, and click track-pad while pressing the [Control] key.
  2. Click [Customize Toolbar].

  3. Drag [Advanced] to the tool bar then click [Done].

  4. The above completes the preparation of the [Advanced] tab.
