network outlet user manual

S&T KIC provides Internet connection services through the network outlet of the classroom and cyber corner in Yagami campus.

Service Overview

  • It is available by connecting a device such as notebook computer with an Ethernet port in the cable.

  • User authentication is required to access the Internet via the network outlet. You are requested to acquire the account that can be used in user anthentication in advance.

  • Network services that are available via the network outlet at Yagami campus is below.

    • email sending (SMTP, SMTPs)
      • submission port is available
    • email receiving (POP3, POP3s, IMAP, IMAPs)
    • Web (http, https)
    • remote login (telnet, ssh)
      • telnet can be used only to a host inside Keio University except the district Fujisawa
    • file transfering (ftp, sftp)
      • ftp can be used only to a host inside Keio University except the district Fujisawa (only Passive transfer mode is available).
    • Windows Remote Desktop

how to use a network outlet

network setting and user authentication are required to use network outlet after connecting to the Ethernet port in the cable.

In the following description, we assume that the Ethernet port is correctly recognized by your computer. If your computer does not have an Ethernet port, please equip a LAN card and install driver, etc., in advance.

Please change the network setting to obtain an IP address automatically using the DHCP via the network outlet. After a successful acquisition of the IP address, an IP address that begins with "172." is set to the Ethernet port.

user authentication

User authentication is required to access the Internet via network outlet.

keio.jp and ITC account is available in the user authentication.
